Low self-esteem, overthinking, feelings of shame or blame, abuse, toxic energy, nervousness are all signs of stress and anxiety.
Low self-esteem is very common in society because we are always competing with someone (often ourselves) or something. And we never feel like we're good enough.
In my personal experience it all starts with childhood trauma, parental relationships, upbringing, religious and school meddling. Limits to our emotional development that lead us to believe we don't deserve to be loved, to feel worthless, to not earn the right to live. Growing up, in order not to suffer, we build armor with the intent to protect us, but in reality we never face our demons. Like to sweep the dust under the rug!
