This book offers a comprehensive understanding of the developments in the modern Chinese history since the Opium War in 1840, by reflecting on the history of the Communist Party of China, the history of China since 1949, the history of the economic reform and opening up, and the history of China’s socialist institutional construction respectively. Taking time as the warp and events as the weft, it tries to summarize the fundamental changes across the past 200 years in China, which the author believes have been a glorious journey from poverty and weakness to rejuvenation.
